Bugibba
Holidays
Bugibba
holidays, situated along Maltas’ rocky
northern coastline, is one of the largest
and most popular tourist resorts on the
island, providing a well-equipped base with
plenty of modern facilities. Established in
the 1960’s, next door to the picturesque
harbour town of St. Paul’s Bay, Bugibba
has developed into a rather lively
destination, with a mass of hotels and
apartments, and plenty of local
entertainment.
Holidays in Bugibba – A lively place for a
budget holiday
The coastline of Bugibba is home to
many flat rocks, ideal for sunbathing and
enjoying the views across St. Paul’s Bay,
with many access points for swimming in the
blue waters, which are clean and clear, but
quite deep. A large lido in the resort
offers good facilities, and the largest
sandy beach on the island, Mellieha
Bay, is just 8km away. The hub of the
resort is Il Bajja, a pedestrian square
filled with cheerful bars and reasonably
priced restaurants, situated just opposite
the promenade. Lined with shops, the lively
seafront promenade offers plenty of bars and
open-air cafes in which to enjoy the views
across the coast or just people-watch. A
resort for the budget conscious, Bugibba has
plenty of well-priced accommodation, and the
area is filled with fairly high-rise hotels
and apartments. Neighbouring Qawar, which
together with Bugibba fills the eastern side
of the peninsula of St. Paul’s Bay, is a
slightly more upmarket resort, and offers a
quieter atmosphere.
Bugibba
Holidays – A good choice for shopping
and entertainment
Bugibba is a major centre for
entertainment in the north of the island,
with an excellent choice of restaurants and
bars to suit all tastes, and both a cinema
and a casino. As well as the usual tourist
shops and souvenir stands, Bugibba is home
to a large shopping centre and is a good
place to browse the locally made goods, such
as lace and hand-knitted jumpers, jewellery,
and glassware. A craft village in Bugibba,
Ta’Qali, is open to the public and an
interesting place to watch the local artists
at work, producing traditional Maltese
pieces.
