Malta
Holiday Information
Picturesque
fishing villages, a wonderful year
round climate, diverse culture and
fascinating traditions; this is what
a holiday to Malta has in store for
you.
Located
in the Mediterranean Sea just south
of Sicily and north of Africa, Malta
embraces its rich and diverse
culture. Just thirty five kilometres
from one side to the other, Malta is
easy to explore, although car hire
is recommended especially to access
some of the hidden beaches. The
beach resorts offer a superb and
popular choice of activities,
including scuba diving, water skiing
and sailing.
Valetta
is the capital city of Malta and
offers an excellent choice of
museums, galleries and monuments
within its 16th century walls. The
busy resort of Bugibba
in Malta offers a superb selection
of cheap hotel and self-catering
accommodation, plus countless
shopping opportunities and many bars
and restaurants. In comparison, St
Paul’s Bay offers a quieter
existence with a good selection of
water sports.
Malta
will suit families, couples and
groups who wish to stay in self
catering apartments or studios, bed
and breakfast residences or half
board hotels; with equal choice for
the low cost and deluxe holiday
budget.
Beaches
in Malta
For
a superb setting surrounded by rocky
cliffs head to Ghajn Tuffieha on
Malta, as it boasts an excellent
stretch of fine sand. Most of
Malta’s sandy beaches are to the
north of the island, whilst
stretches of flat white rocks may be
found around the major resorts to
the west. Scuba diving is very
popular on Malta’s west side.
Mellieha overlooks one Malta’s
largest sandy beaches, whilst framed
by rocky cliffs in a secluded
location across the island, is
Golden Bay.
Explore
Malta
The
Maltese Islands incorporates Malta
the largest island, Gozo, the
greener island and Comino, a
paradise for snorkelers, divers and
walkers. The islands of Cominetto
and Fifia are uninhabited. It is
easy to book yourself on to an
island hopping tour or hire a boat
at one of the main ports. Gozo’s
landscape is rugged and has some of
the Mediterranean’s best diving
sites. Comino lies between Malta and
Gozo and is a car free island with a
spectacular blue lagoon and safe
bathing for swimmers. On Malta,
everywhere you look there is a
historic reminder, with many
temples, palaces, forts and
cathedrals. Valletta
and Sliema
are perfect for shopping, and
Valetta is also great for theatre
and opera. Paceville, close to St
Julians is good for a selection
of nightclubs and bars, and cheaper
nights out.
